New Music Friday

This week I’ve been hooked on an upcoming British electropopfunkfusion artist named Sam Sparro. His newest single “Black and Gold” is racing up the charts across the pond, and seems poised to become a shower singing favorite this summer.

More interesting than his music is his eclectic background. Which places Mr. Sparro in all parts of the world employed as everything from a publicist in Melbourne to a Barista in Britain. Another factoid that made me fall in like with him is his spot on observation of the Maryland public school system:

It sounds like you loved our music but you weren’t too crazy about our education system here.
Have you ever gone to school in California?

Never. I went to school in Maryland, where schools are actually good.
A part of it was just adjusting to a brand new culture and a whole new set of rules. It’s much bigger and faster here. Kids grow up a lot faster here. The school I went to was really Math oriented and there was no creative outlet and I hated it. As soon as I could leave, I did.

Adding exponentially to his likability factor is his membership in the fun not liking girls club.
